Idaho Central Credit Union was proud to join hundreds of people in another record year for KTVB’s 7Cares and Idaho Shares on December 13! Donations made in person, over the phone, and online helped bring in thousands of pounds of food and cash donations to benefit charities around the state in just one day.
Generous donations from people and organizations will feed hungry people across the Treasure Valley and Magic Valley through the Salvation Army, the Idaho Foodbank, and the Boise Rescue Mission.
KTVB spoke to Hillary Betz with the Salvation Army who said, “The need never goes away. The demand on our food pantry happens 12 months a year, 365 days and we really rely on those donations to come in throughout the year. It’s wonderful to see the generosity during the holidays, because it’s really important to provide people with health and hope during the holiday season but the need never goes away.”
The final count was astounding! In one afternoon $183,771 in cash plus more than 163,000 pounds of food were donated, equaling 687,233 meals!
The day was nicely summed up by Rev. Bill Roscoe with the Boise Rescue Mission who KTVB also spoke with, when he said, “You know, it’s the most generous community on the face of the earth.”
