What does this benefit cover?
Members have access to coverage that can replace eligible items that are broken or stolen and extends the warranty on certain purchases for up to a full year.
• Buyer’s Protection covers eligible items for 90 days from the date of purchase against accidental breakage, fire, or theft.
• Extended Warranty extends the U.S. manufacturer’s original written warranty up to one full year on most new retail purchases if the warranty is less than five years.
• Item(s) must be purchased entirely with the eligible account for coverage.
How do I file a claim?
• For Buyer’s Protection, call the Benefits Administrator at 1-866-210-0361 to request a claim form.
• For Extended Warranty, report the loss to the Benefits Administrator, within 45 days. You will receive a Claim Form to be completed and returned within 90 days from the date of loss.
How does this benefit work? Do I have to register?
No, this benefit is automatically available to you with your (FI) account.
• Buyer’s Protection will replace, repair or reimburse you up to the original purchase price, less shipping and handling charges, up to a maximum of $2,500 per claim and a maximum of $50,000 per account per year.
• Extended Warranty doubles the time period of an original manufacturer’s written U.S. warranty up to one additional year, provided the entire purchase price of the item is paid using an eligible account. Extended Warranty covers new purchases having a manufacturer’s United States warranty of 5 years or less, unless otherwise excluded.
• Buyer’s Protection and Extended Warranty Item(s) must be purchased entirely with this account.
Does this benefit cover everything I buy?
No. This benefit does not cover purchases regarding living animals or plants, perishables, consumables, and more. See Guide to Benefit for details.
Does the Extended Warranty cover car parts?
No, car parts are excluded.
For Buyer’s Protection, can a member file a claim after the 90-day period if the product broke within the first 90 days?
Yes, however you need to file a claim within 45 days of the damage or theft.
Does Debit Advantage automatically cover items bought in full through an eligible account?
Each new eligible item is covered for the first 90 days up to $2,500.
Do I have to register items to be covered with Debit Advantage?
No.
Will items purchased using a credit card be covered?
No, the items must be purchased with your eligible account.
